On the afternoon of November 17, the first "English Corner", organized by Miami College's 2017 major in Electronic Information Science and Technology, was successfully carried out in the lecture hall at the second floor of Miami College. With the theme of "cultures of different countries", foreign students are invited to participate in this event. The purpose of the event is to enhance students' English conversation ability through cultural exchanges in different countries. The event was presided over by Fu Yuxiao and Ma Xintong. Counselors Liu Wenliang, Wang Min, Wang Xiangxiang and Alyson of the International Han University, and all the students of 2017 participated in the event.
After Fu Yuxiao introduced the activity rule briefly, the exchange activity officially began. Wang Min of the International Chinese Academy first introduced some of his hometown food and traditional festivals, leading everyone into colorful foreign civilization. During the event, Miami College students spoke actively and discussed Chinese and foreign eating habits and festivals. Among them interspersed the game loop "guess the word", which lets the student use the brain in the laughter, and pushed the activity to the climax. Finally, Wang Min and Wang Xiangxiang of the International Han University shared their experiences and methods of learning English, which greatly benefited all the students.
This "English Corner" is an effective attempt to improve students' interest in English learning. Everyone said that this activity is very exciting, and this form can not only exercise freshmen's oral English and cross-cultural communication ability, but also enrich the students' after-school cultural life. The smooth development of the English Corner also provides an effective model for other classes to carry out similar English learning activities.
