Season changes once again,and time touches each of us. “Man should be self-reliant since no one could be a master without acquired learning.” With such perseverance, Luo Changjian entered Miami College and majored in Environmental Science.

Devoting Himself to Study , with Responsibility As the Beginning

Ecological problems are a severe test faced by all humanity，such as soil erosion, resource depletion, and climate variability... With environmental issues increasingly attracting attention from the society, the majors related to environmental protection have  much space for development and become the focus of many students' choices of their profession. " yearning for environmental science , I hope to contribute to our environmental causes in the future. That's why I choose Miami College , choose this major . " Luo Changjian smiled when recalling the registration then.

After over one year's learning , Luo Changjian has a deep knowledge of environmental science. For him, environmental science is more like a key to the interpretation of relationship between human development and nature sustainability. He also said, "Humanity's continuous development is inseparable from a stable ecological environment. The best way for human development is to coordinate the relationship between man and nature. And the professional knowledge we have learned is just based on governance and focused on development."

A huge tree that fills one’s arms grows from a tiny seedling; a nine-storied tower rises from a heap of earth. "In my opinion, Environmental Science major is a problem-oriented discipline, and it is necessary to resort to the knowledge of geography, physics, chemistry, and biology as well as other disciplines to study and solve environmental problems." Luo Changjian told us. The comprehensiveness and interdisciplinary nature of the profession also further get across to him the importance of extensive learning and deep understanding.

Blooming Youth with Diligence

  Amid the fresh air and tiny dew, the early morning embraces the rising sun in the sound of loud reading; coming with dim moonlight, the night says goodbye to the evening stars in the scent of ink. Due to the special teaching system of Miami College and the use of English-style teaching materials in the teaching process, a large number of professional vocabularies increase the difficulty of understanding. So this is like a big mountain for Luo Changjian in his learning process. "The massive accumulation of vocabulary, the integration of knowledge, make this process tedious and solitary. But only on the way can we find the way. Without the continuous bitter cold, how can the plum flower give off a fragrance?" Luo Changjian said that.

When it comes to the professional learning, Luo Changjian shared his own method. "To change, you must go into it. Having chosen the Environmental Science major, you have to deal with nature. To study environmental science, you must be close to nature, be familiar with nature, and truly understand the laws of nature. You should analyze environmental issues from an overall and holographic perspective, pay more attention to hot spots, and raise awareness of environmental responsibility so as to enhance learning motivation . ”

Success is reserved for those who make preparations. It is the rigorous and pragmatic work that Luo Changjian has done that achieves the fruits of today. Merit Student of Henan University, Scholarship in Henan University, Academic Scholarship in Miami College, and other awards are the best interpretation.

Picturing the Future with the Dream

  After the first taste of achievement, Luo Changjian has a keen interest in environmental science and he is also more convinced that attending Environmental Science major of Miami College is the right choice at the right time, in the process of moving steadily forward.

Fu Xuan once said,"those who facing crossroads concern about getting lost , and those who revere high mountains have aspirations for flying." Dream catchers are usually labelled as excellence. With the gradual deepening of professional knowledge exploration, he is little by little convinced by the unique charm of environmental science. One should keep good as others first saw him, while he should practice constantly when he makes his way. When asked about plans for the future, he chooses to develop himself unswervingly on this road. "I hope that I can take root in the great northwest of our motherland and work quietly as an environmentalist, just like the 'Saihanba people' creating ecological miracles." During the conversation, Luo Changjian always put the cause of environmental protection of the motherland in his heart and revealed the wonderful vision of the future. In the long river of history, high towers rising straight from the ground never exist. With firm goals, he also mapped out his studies for himself. He said confidently,"The main task of the undergraduate stage is to consolidate professional knowledge and maintain excellent results. After graduating, I would like to go to Singapore or HongKong to take a successive postgraduate and doctoral program, so that I can continue making more contributions to the environmental causes for our country after returning home."

There is no unreasonable mediocrity and there is no merited success. The sea to completely day before makes the shore, and the mountain ascends the highest me is a peak. Ambition has not been achieved yet, Luo Changjian, on the journey of environmental science, has packed his suitcase, and moved forward further and further with his faith and dream , enjoying the bitter weather at his leisure.
