In order to strengthen students’ understanding of environmental science and train their observation and practical ability in the field, the students majoring in environmental science conducted a four-day field practice from July 3 to 6 under the guidance of the two teachers, Guo Tingzhong and Wang Lin. Mainly focused on water environment, solid waste, air pollution and environmental planning, the practice activity carried out in the Huiji River, the drinking water source of Kaifeng, sewage treatment plants of Lankao industry cluster district, Zhuangtou Village of Weishi County and etc.

During the internship, students listened and thought carefully and found problems constantly. Immersed in the ideal learning atmosphere, they expressed strong interest and had a deeper understanding of environment.

Although the temperature was up to 38°C, students visited the sewage treatment plant in which they learned about the process to dispose of industrial sewage and had a preliminary acquaintance with the sewage treatment. In addition, students also visited the Jiao Yulu Mausoleum, Lankao County’s City Meeting Room and other places. The internship was implemented in the form of field explanation and investigation, interviews and symposiums to answer questions. In the process of practice, students studied industriously and were not afraid of hardship and high temperature, so the internship went smoothly.

By practising in the field, students not only have deeper understanding of environmental science but also their field ability to observe, analyze and solve problems has been exercised and improved.
