On the afternoon of September 21, the opening ceremony of the 2017 undergraduate students of the Miami College was held in the lecture hall on the second floor of the administrative building of the Jinming Campus. Vice President Sun Junjian attended the meeting and delivered a speech. The attendees of the relevant functional departments of the school and the college and the director of the school’s foreign delegation, Sherman Bai, attended the ceremony. All the staff and more than 170 freshmen attended the ceremony. The ceremony was presided over by Wang Chuangfeng, deputy secretary of the college's Party Branch.

In his speech, Sun Junjian stated that the successful recruitment of the Miami College marked that Henan University and even Henan Province had taken a leap-forward development step on the road of high-level internationalization. It was an inheritance and innovation of the internationalized school running mode of Henan University for more than one hundred years. He hoped that every freshman in the Miami Academy will aspire to a lofty and clear direction, take the initiative to integrate, adapt to the new environment as soon as possible, lay a solid foundation, be diligent in learning, and take the initiative to take on the historical responsibility of building a school into a high-level international university.

Zhao Xinshun, dean of the college, said that Miami College is a new achievement of cooperation between Henan University and Miami University. It is also another bridge for Henan University to exchange with the world's top universities, and is an important practice for the implementation of the international development strategy of Henan University. He hopes that the students will realize their personal dreams on the road to international education.

The teacher representative, Professor Wang Lin, encouraged freshmen to continue their hard work on the Miami College platform and strive to realize their value in life. Senior student representatives Sai Jiachen and freshmen representative Xing Zhongyue made speeches and exchanged ideas and experiences of university life.

The ceremony ended with the majestic and magnificent school song.

During the entire ceremony, the teachers and students spoke in English and left a deep impression on all the new students. They believe that in this “high-standard, high-grade, high-level” international brand college, their university life will be more substantial and colorful.
