The Miami College 2017 English Calligraphy Contest of Henan University Was Held Successfully

“The cool autumn wind brings the sweet-smelling of ink.” At the beginning of new term, the first “English Calligraphy Contest” was hold successfully in Miami College of Henan University. The competition was organized by the Learning Department of Miami College Students’ Union. 174 students from the College competed the competition. After the evaluation from judges, 15 students finally outstood among all the students and won the first prize, second prize and third prize respectively.


“With the increase of international exchangeEnglish attracts more and more attentions and has become an indispensable communication tool in people’s life, study and work. English study is particularly important in Miami College, we hold this activity to improve our students’ appreciation of English, to inspire the enthusiasm in learning English.” Liu Wenliang said, the instructor of the 17 grade in Miami College. And this is exactly why all the students took an active part during the collection of works, they all written carefully using their special skills. Their smooth handwriting and neat and orderly Gothic present a fest for the eyes. Each piece of work full with student’s English handwriting ability, showing the excellent handwriting skills. By the end of the contest, the organizing committee select some excellent works to exhibit in the College.


       Through this contest, our students see difference with the competitor and realized that calligraphy practice is not an instant work, it needs long-term persistence and polish the craft. This activity provided a platform for English calligraphy fans to communicate and show their works, which also enriched the extracurricular life and highlighted the undergraduates’ mental outlook.
