On July 25th, the first teachers and students successfully finished their “Summer Tour to the United States”

After a half year well-prepraed preparation, 20 students from two different grades and four different majors started their 15-day tour from Beijing Capital International Airport guided by one of our tearcher Li Qi.

In order to help the students deeply experience the cultural atmosphere, campus culture and school-running model of the University of Miami, this cultural tour guided students visits many famous universities including Harvard University, MIT and Columbia University with the full support of the University of Miami College of Engineering. In addition, considering the fun of the tour, the students also visited the Kennedy Space Center, the United Nations Headquarters in New York, and Disney World in Orlando.

During the cultural visit, the students and teachers of our college received a warm reception. David Poole, Director of Admissions Office for the College of Engineering, accompanied the visit. Jean-Pierre Bardet, the Dean of the College of Engineering at the University of Miami, conducted in-depth exchanges with the students through the discussion and issued course-completion certificates for the students.

Engineering College organized five academic lectures relating to students‘ majors. Senior professors shared cutting-edge research topics and directions with students which helped the students broaden their horizons. In addition, the students also visited a number of laboratories in the Institute of Technology. Relevant leaders and professors gave a detailed introduction to the various laboratories. Besides, a variety of academic discussions on different interesting topics carried on between professors and students from Miami College and Engineering College.

As the Chinese old saying goes “Read ten thousand books and travel ten thousand miles.” During the tour, the students fully experienced the local customs and exotic culture of the United States. Through lot of discussions and social practice activities with different themes during the 15-day tour, the students have grown up a lot. By making the comparison between Chinese and American culture, education system and human environment, our students increased knowledge, improved teamwork awareness and communication skills.
