On the morning of March 8th, the lecture hall on the second floor of the college was fully occupied. The Program of 2018 Summer Vacation Study Tour in Miami University was held here. Prof. Sherman Bai, foreign dean, Wang Chuangfeng, deputy secretary of the General Party Branch, Hailan, teacher of the Florida Education Management Center and grade counselors, all students of 2017 Class, and some students of 2016 Class attended this meeting. Li Qi, in charge of the College International Exchange and Project Management Office, presided over the briefing.

First of all, the dean Bai made detailed explanations on the itinerary, characteristics, time, costs, and procedures for the study tour, and answered the questions concerned by students and parents in detail. He briefly introduced the basic situation of higher education in the United States and the characteristics of the world-renowned universities such as Miami University, Harvard University and Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He also introduced the social culture and customs of American cities along the route of study tours and the basic ideas of the design for this study tour program. Then he stressed: “read thousands of books and travel thousands of miles”, and it was a better way to take participate in the study tour if you wanted to have a deeper understanding of the characteristics and advantages of the American society, culture, and higher education. Everything must be only done then been understood profoundly, and, therefore, study tours can allow everyone to broaden their horizon and increase their knowledge. In particular, for those students who are interested in going to the United States to study in the future, they just take this opportunity to know American social culture and fully understand the features and learning environment of colleges and universities in Miami. As such, they can prepare for it in advance. Having worked and lived in the United States for more than 30 years, Dean Bai combined his personal experiences to explain in detail. Then, deputy secretary Wang Chuangfeng gave a brief explanation on the purpose and organization of this summer study tour program. And Hai Lan answered some questions concerning students’ preparation for studying abroad during the undergraduate study. During the briefing, students enthusiastically asked questions and teachers answered with heart, which made a warm and lively atmosphere.

It was reported that the summer vacation program at the University of Miami was an important measure for the college to strengthen cooperation with the University of Miami, which gained the strong support of the University of Miami. The students would carry out a week-long intensive study and visiting at the University of Miami's Institute of Technology.
