On the morning of March 9, Vice President Yang Zhonghua went to the Miami College for research and guidance. All the leaders of this college participated in the symposium.
At the symposium, Zhao Xinshun, the Dean and Party General Secretary of the college, gave a detailed report on the establishment process, construction status, medium and long-term development plan, and current key tasks, difficulties and problems faced by the college. Other leaders reported separately on their own responsibilities and duties.
Mr. Yang listened to the report carefully and conducted in-depth exchanges with the attendees. He fully affirmed the development planning and construction progress of the college, and provided guiding opinions for the college’s next phase of development. He pointed out that the construction of the Miami College is an important part of the construction of our school’s first-class disciplines, especially the comprehensive reform and internationalization strategy. The high standard and enormous difficulty call for substantial supports from all parties involved. Our university attaches great importance to the construction of the Miami College, and has issued the Several Opinions on Construction of the Miami College specifically. In addition, our school has given many favorable policies in the personnel and financial management. Therefore, our college should seize the opportunity and take advantage of these policies, strive for excellence, persist in reform and innovation, and stick to integrative development to build us into a brand college of Chinese-foreign cooperatively-run institute as soon as possible. At present, one of the key tasks of the college is to strengthen faculty building. Functional departments such as Development Planning Office and Human Resources Department will make a good job of guidance and service. The college itself must also reinforce its sense of urgency and responsibility: Firstly, we should take advantage of the talents working conference of our school, broaden the channels for the introduction of full-time foreign teachers, accelerate the plan of introducing outstanding overseas young people, the program for young faculties to visit overseas prestigious universities and famous teachers, and the program for administrative personnel to train abroad, so as to enhance the internationalization of the faculty. Secondly, we must improve the internal governance system, intensify the reforms and innovation of the faculty’s management pattern, and be prior to carry and try new measures such as pushing forward the classified management of faculty, intensifying post management and performance assessment, thus attracting talents with institutional innovation. Lastly, we must speed up the construction of teaching and scientific research platforms, effectively improve management ability and service level, provide teachers and students with a comfortable living, working and studying environment, liberate the overseas talents from worries of working here, and create a good atmosphere of talent introduction.
Finally, Zhao Xinshun said on behalf of the leaders of the college that guided by the spirit of the 19th National People’s Congress and the socialist ideology with Chinese characteristics in the new era led by President Xi, our college will conscientiously implement the spirit of our school’s talents working conference, unite as one with the pioneering and innovative spirit under the leadership of the school party committee. In order to build our college into a domestic first-class Chinese-foreign cooperatively-run institution early and provide important support for the discipline construction of world-class university, we will accelerate the pace the faculty building, intensify the construction of the internal governance system, and strengthen cooperation with the University of Miami.
